Last year, we announced a major achievement in Alloyfold’s history: the signing of the Te Kaha stadium contract - an opportunity to provide 25,000 seats for the new Christchurch stadium. After a lot of preparation and planning, the project installation is finally underway. Overseeing it all is Alloyfold Project Manager, Chris Camm, who has provided the latest update on his role and the stadium project.
Since joining the Alloyfold team last year, Chris has appreciated being part of a social enterprise. “It’s quite refreshing, really. Knowing that what you’re doing for your job is helping others. And the team throughout Alloyfold has been very helpful. I think everybody’s working toward the same goals and purpose.”
In terms of the stadium project, it’s been a challenging but rewarding project so far.
"We’re working on a large, public project so that brings its own complications and obstacles, but I think we’re past most of the hurdles."
"We’re fully involved with installation now, so a lot of the prequalification, submitting drawings, getting them approved, and then issued for construction, is all done. Those sorts of things are quite challenging.”
At the moment, a team of labourers are working at the stadium in preparation for the arrival of the seating. “Right now, we are drilling holes and installing brackets and rails. We’ll be installing the first seats in early July, so not far away.”
The project has been fairly synergistic for Pathway Charitable Group as a whole, as we’ve been able to collaborate between various parts of the group. Oak Tree has provided container devanning and labour hire for Alloyfold, and they’ve also been able to employ one of our reintegration clients, so it's been a very positive experience for the group.
Chris and the team are on schedule to finish the installation by early October, with the stadium set to open in April 2026. We look forward to providing the next update on this project later in the year!
