Every fortnight in the Youth Unit at Christchurch Men's Prison, young people learn to strip down and rebuild donated bikes alongside volunteers. The finished bikes go to men leaving prison and to others in the community who need transport.
The project has run for nine years without dedicated funding. Parts come out of one volunteer's pocket.
We are raising $3,500 to put it on a solid footing: parts, tools, petrol for volunteers, and more volunteers so more young people can take part. As donations come in, the wheel above fills up.
Would you consider getting behind it?
