Local aged-care provider WesleyCare is a new employer for Pathway Supported Employment. After learning more about our service from new employment consultant Chrissie Curtis, they went through Pathway to fill a cleaning role within their support staff team.
Manager Fran Pucilowski tells us that things are going well so far. "She has been excellent," says Fran, "She is a real busy bee who gets on well with staff and has proven herself to the cleaning supervisor. Overall it has been a very smooth transition and she has slotted into WesleyCare with considerable ease."
WesleyCare's support staff are initially employed on a casual basis in order to assess each individual's work ethic and how they interact with clients and permanent staff. "Our Pathway worker is performing so well it is highly likely that we will employ her full-time in the very near future," says Fran.
WesleyCare is a service of the the Christchurch Methodist Mission. "The Christchurch Methodist Mission makes a difference in the lives of thousands of children, families and older people every year, providing programmes and services to help those in need," says Fran.
"We decided that because we help people in our community through our services, we should also help others needing a second chance and looking for a job.
"We have found working with Pathway Supported Employment very good, it's a transparent process as you know the person you are employing has a criminal background. We always consider candidates on a case by case basis as we deal with vulnerable people.
"We would definitely use Pathway Supported Employment again."
