Pathway has just won its first contract to work with Christchurch Women’s Prison.
The contract will extend Pathway’s existing employment service to women coming out of Christchurch Women’s Prison.
“Our employment programme has had good results,” says Carey Ewing, Pathway Reintegration Manager. “Right now, 62% of the guys we find work for are still employed after six months — that’s the top employment outcome in the country for any provider working with Corrections. It made sense for us to extend this service to the Women’s Prison.”
New employment consultant Chrissie Curtis will work with women to build their CVs, help them gain new skills, and match them to the right job.
“I’m really looking forward to getting stuck into this important work,” says Chrissie. “A big part of starting off will be diversifying our pool of employers to offer more options to the women seeking work.”
