Social Services
Pathway is passionate about assisting those who have experienced difficulties and feel trapped in negative cycles. Many of these people are keen to change, but don’t know how to on their own. Pathway’s strategy is about mentoring, support and accountability, whether it is for a new employee who has never held down a job or someone straight out of prison who has nowhere to go. Staff uphold our clients in the difficult times, enable them to continue improving, or simply help them stay focused on positive goals to avoid falling into negative cycles again.
Pathway Retreat
Our rural retreat offers short to mid term relief accommodation to both those in need and those seeking some space for personal reflection. Ideal for those who are committed to life change, support and encouragement are given while residents get their lives back on track.
Restorative Justice Programme
The Restorative Justice principles of accepting responsibilities for past actions, seeking to make past wrongs right and committing to positive change are a foundational to our reintegration work.
Prisoner Reintegration services
This year about 9,000 prisoners will be released into the community. That’s, on average, more than 21 a day. But within three years around half (44%) will re-offend and be sent back to jail. The single best way to reduce crime is to help released prisoners not to re-offend. Pathway’s strategy is based around how that may be achieved. Stated briefly, we believe that safer communities can be created and criminal re-offending can be greatly reduced if people and organisations with good reputations, good systems, and good connections, work together.
Mentoring
Pathway provides support and guidance to volunteers who commit to mentoring of released prisoners under our programmes. Released prisoners have many ‘experts’ on life around them. They often have few people who simply want to take an interest in them and their progress.
Employment Supports
Employment is a key feature in any reintegration process. Pathway Reintegration is committed to working with Work and Income to support people back into employment. Personal circumstances, inhibitions, inexperience and lack of skillls may prevent or hinder a released prisoner from acquiring employment. Part of our support is to assist with breaking down these barriers and developing employment stability.
